Government Schemes & RIESW Training Programs to Empower Marginalised

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a flagship scheme launched by the Government of India to enhance the skills of the country's youth and improve their employability. The initiative aims to provide training to millions of young people across various sectors, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to meet industry demands and secure gainful employment.

Under PMKVY, the government offers free, industry-relevant training programs that cover a wide range of trades and skills. The scheme is designed to align with the needs of the labour market, thus increasing the likelihood of trainees finding suitable job opportunities upon completion of their training. Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM)

Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) is part of the "Mukhyamantri 07 Nischay" (Chief Minister's Seven Resolves) scheme, specifically under the "Aarthik Hal, Yuvaon Ko Bal" (Economic Solution, Empowerment to Youth) component. It is an initiative by the Government of Bihar aimed at equipping the state’s youth with the necessary skills to enhance their employability and foster economic growth. This mission is a comprehensive effort to address the challenges of unemployment and underemployment by providing targeted skill development training and educational opportunities.

Key Objectives of BSDM:

To facilitate generation of adequate employment opportunities through a policy frame work.

To encourage and facilitate skill training for youth of Bihar.

To monitor generation of employment in different sectors.

To facilitate launching of training programmes for both uneducated and educated unemployed persons for up-gradation of their skills.

To formulate area and trade specific strategies for maximizing employment opportunities on a sustainable basis in the State supported by private sector.

To facilitate a coordinated approach in achieving the above objectives for maximizing the benefits over time and space and in reaching out the most needy sections of the population.

Mukhya Mantri Nari Shakti Yojana (MNSY)

Mukhya Mantri Nari Shakti Yojana (MNSY) is a significant initiative launched by the Government of Bihar aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality. This scheme is integrated work related to social empowerment, cultural empowerment and economic empowerment related to the development of women.

Along with this, Bihar State Women's Information and Resource Center / Gender Resource Center is operated for the collection, storage, publication, and dissemination of information related to women, research and development. By collaborating with this scheme, RIESW training programs trained several women / girl candidates in the Agriculture Sector, Apparel, Electronics, and Beauty and Wellness Sectors in different districts, namely –Patna, Aurangabad, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Nawada.

Key Points:

Under social empowerment: Women's helpline, short stay home, defense home, working women's hostel, child care home.

Under cultural empowerment: Women cultural fairs and award scheme to self-help groups for innovative work.

Under economic empowerment: Training of women in employable vocational courses in service sector and employment or association with self-employment, training work research for service sector and Innovative for new ideas regarding their development and empowerment Planning is to be encouraged.

DAY-NULM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission)

DAY-NULM is a flagship program launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It aims to reduce urban poverty and enhance livelihoods for the urban poor by providing comprehensive support for skill development, employment, and self-employment opportunities. As part of these flagship programs, the Rajendra Institute for Education and Social Welfare (RIESW) has successfully provided training to 300 candidates in the fields of IT and electronics.

Key Objectives:

1. Enhance Urban Livelihoods: The mission focuses on providing various services and support to improve the livelihoods of the urban poor, ensuring they have better access to economic opportunities.

2. Promote Self-Employment: DAY-NULM encourages self-employment and entrepreneurship among urban poor individuals by providing financial assistance and skill training.

3. Skill Development and Training: The program offers vocational training and skill development programs tailored to meet market demands, thereby improving employability and productivity.

National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM)

National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) is an initiative launched by the Government of India to promote digital literacy and ensure that every citizen has the skills to use digital technology effectively. The mission aims to bridge the digital divide by providing basic digital literacy training to individuals, enabling them to participate in the digital economy and access various services online.

As part of this initiative, We trained over 9,000 candidates through our Digital Training Programme. (Highlight this part with more stressed on it with some more words)

Objectives of NDLM

1. Promote Digital Literacy: NDLM aims to increase the digital literacy levels among citizens, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. This includes teaching individuals how to use computers, smartphones, and the internet effectively.

2. Empower Citizens: By improving digital literacy, the mission seeks to empower citizens to access a wide range of services, including government services, banking, e-commerce, and educational resources, which are increasingly available online.

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is a prominent educational organization in India that provides flexible and inclusive education opportunities to students of all ages. Established by the Government of India, NIOS offers a range of academic and vocational programs through an open and distance learning (ODL) system.

By collaborating with NIOS, RIESW has trained 1000 + Candidates in Information Technology (IT) Sectors, and made them enable them to live a sustainable life.

Key Features of NIOS

1. Flexible Learning: NIOS provides flexibility in terms of time, pace, and place of learning. Students can study at their own convenience, which is particularly beneficial for working professionals, housewives, and individuals in remote areas.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is a pivotal organization established by the Government of India to facilitate the development of a skilled workforce and address the skills gap in the country. NSDC plays a key role in promoting skill development initiatives, especially in sectors with high growth potential, to enhance employability and support economic development.

Key Functions of NSDC

Public-Private Partnerships: NSDC acts as a catalyst in creating and supporting partnerships between the government, private sector, and other stakeholders to develop and implement skill development programs. These partnerships help in leveraging resources, expertise, and networks to achieve broader impact.

2. Funding and Investment: NSDC provides financial support to various skill development initiatives, including training programs, infrastructure development, and capacity building. This funding helps in scaling up successful programs and reaching a larger audience.

3. Sector Skill Councils: NSDC has established Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) for various industries to develop and maintain industry-specific skill standards and training programs. These councils work closely with industry stakeholders to ensure that training is relevant and up-to-date.

4. Quality Assurance: NSDC is responsible for setting quality standards and guidelines for skill development programs. It monitors and evaluates the performance of training providers to ensure that they deliver high-quality education and training.

5. Digital Platforms and Tools: NSDC leverages technology to improve access to skill development resources. This includes online training platforms, digital tools, and resources that facilitate remote learning and skill acquisition.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM)

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is a major initiative by the Government of India aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods and enhancing the socio-economic conditions of rural poor households. Launched in 2011, the mission focuses on reducing poverty by fostering the creation of self-employment opportunities and improving the overall quality of life in rural areas.

Objectives of DAY-NRLM

Poverty Alleviation: The primary goal of DAY-NRLM is to reduce poverty and improve the standard of living for rural poor families by providing them with the means to generate sustainable income.

2. Empowerment of Women: A significant emphasis of the mission is on empowering women, who are often the primary caregivers and contributors to household income in rural areas.

3. Promotion of Self-Employment: DAY-NRLM supports self-employment ventures and entrepreneurship among rural populations. This includes providing financial assistance, training, and resources to help individuals start and grow their own businesses.

4. Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs): DAY-NRLM promotes the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Organizations (VOs).
